Mission Kindergarten Orientation Welcomes Incoming Families to Maurice W. Downing Primary School

On Feb. 4, Maurice W. Downing Primary School welcomed incoming kindergarten students and their families for Mission Kindergarten: A Portrait of Discovery, an engaging orientation designed to introduce families to the school community and the journey ahead.
Principal Erik Walter, along with Superintendent Dr. Maria Rianna, Director of Gudiance Rebecca Gottesman and school leaders, shared highlights of Downing’s kindergarten program, including inclusive classrooms, hands-on learning, a new STEM Lab and a refreshed playground. Families also learned about the registration process, upcoming screenings and summer orientation events.
The Downing PTA introduced opportunities for family involvement and previewed beloved traditions such as the annual kindergarten playdate, reinforcing the strong partnership between families and the school.
The evening marked an exciting first step for the Class of 2039 as they prepare to begin their Downing experience this fall.
