Celebrating Excellence: WE CAN Work Hard and Portrait of Success Awards

On March 26, Maurice W. Downing proudly hosted its WE CAN Work Hard and Portrait of Success Awards Ceremonies, honoring students for their outstanding achievements and positive contributions to the school community.
This month’s Portrait of Success attribute was Digitally Fluent, and award recipients were recognized for demonstrating responsible, effective and thoughtful use of digital tools to support their learning. Students selected for the WE CAN Work Hard Award were celebrated for their perseverance, dedication and strong work ethic. The ceremonies provided a meaningful opportunity to highlight the many ways our students continue to grow and excel.
Families joined us for the celebration, making the morning especially memorable as students were recognized alongside those who support them every day. The sense of pride and community was felt throughout the event.
Adding to the excitement, four first grade classes delighted the audience with a musical performance. Students sang “Golden” and performed a fun, energetic dance to “Soda Pop,” bringing smiles and applause from everyone in attendance. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the celebration even more joyful.
Maurice W. Downing is incredibly proud of all our award recipients and performers. Congratulations to our students for their hard work, achievements and continued commitment to success!
